  1. The town

    Haslet

    Named, by one account, for a railroad contractor's hometown of Haslett, Michigan, and by another for Charles Maloney, who "has let" the railroad through his ranch. Both stories are told in full on the railroad era page.

  2. The school, the area, and the road

    Blue Mound

    Haslet's first school was called Blue Mound School, and Charles Maloney settled in "the Blue Mound area" in 1882. The nearby Tarrant County community of Blue Mound took its name from a hill of the same name.

    Through Haslet today, FM 156 carries the street name Blue Mound Road.

    Unconfirmed. We have not found a record of when the road took the name.

  3. Farm to Market Road 156

    FM 156

    The "FM" stands for Farm to Market, the Texas highway designation for rural roads built to connect farms with markets.

  4. Willow Springs Ranch

    Singleton Drive

    Named in honor of the Singleton family, whose farm on Avondale-Haslet Road became the Willow Springs Ranch and Willow Springs West subdivisions. Developer Danny Moss bought the farm from the family in 1998 and 2003.

  5. Home of the public library

    Gammil Street

    The Haslet Public Library sits on Gammil Street. The same name, spelled Gammill, appears on the "Doc and Ben Gammill General Store" in the Portal's record of a 1923 photograph of Main Street.

    Unconfirmed. We have not confirmed that the street was named for the store's owners.

    Perot Field

    Alliance Airport was renamed Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport in 2022 in honor of H. Ross Perot Sr.
